In June 2016. The Polish Institute of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy SENTIO was established, which in Latin means: to have feeling, to be aware. The founders of the Institute are Renata Gehrke and Agnieszka Kamińska. The foundation of their twenty years of cooperation and friendship is their shared professional passion and values. Over the years, they gained knowledge and psychotherapeutic experience from various teachers. However, they were still looking for more effective methods of work.
When they went to the Psychoeducation Laboratory in 2013 for a presentation of the ISTDP method by Jon Frederickson, they thought of it as another training that broadened their work-shop. After this presentation, they decided that they want to specialize in this trend. They were accepted for one of the first editions of Core Training in Poland – an advanced, comprehensive training in the field of psychotherapy ISTDP (Intensive Short Term Dynamic Psychotherapy) organized by Laboratorium Psychoedukacji in Warsaw and IEDTA (The International Experiential Dynamic Therapy Association). During this three-year, fascinating training, they learned this method from the most outstanding, world-class teachers and representatives of the ISTDP movement – Josette ten have de Labije, Jon Frederickson, Robert Neborsky, Kees Cornelissen and Tobias Nordqvist.
After completing this training and obtaining the international ISTDP psychotherapist certificate, they knew that they wanted to further develop their skills in the field of ISTDP, and above all, they want to promote this method in Poland.
They decided to become the ambassadors of the ISTDP trend, because they are convinced that it is an effective method that changes life, teaching how to love and be loved.
They have already taken various initiatives, incl. creating an internet platform associating ISTDP psychotherapists and a blog with interviews with prominent representatives of this trend, articles, inspirations, information about events (istdp-psychoterapia.pl). However, the needs turned out to be much greater and that is why they established the Polish Institute of Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy SENTIO and invite other ISTDP psychotherapists to co-create it.
